In Ruiru, we undertook a comprehensive estate cleaning project aimed at enhancing the community's living environment. This initiative involved a series of well-coordinated activities to tackle various aspects of cleanliness and waste management throughout the neighborhood. Our efforts kicked off with the collection of litter scattered across public spaces, such as parks, playgrounds, and sidewalks, ensuring these areas were left spotless and welcoming for residents and visitors alike. Recognizing the importance of sustainability, we also engaged in sorting recyclable materials from the waste collected, diverting them away from landfills and towards recycling centers. This not only helped reduce the environmental footprint of our project but also promoted recycling awareness among the community members. Moreover, we conducted thorough cleaning of drainage systems to prevent blockages that could lead to flooding during rainy seasons. This proactive measure was critical in maintaining the health and safety of the estate, especially in areas prone to waterlogging. The project culminated in a day of planting trees and flowers around communal areas, beautifying the estate while contributing to a greener, more sustainable environment. Through these collective actions, we significantly improved the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the estate, fostering a sense of pride and ownership among the residents.
